I have gotten behind.  I apologize.

Friday — We worked on the study guide for “Blues Ain’t No Mockin Bird” by Toni Cade Bambara and began reading the selection.

Monday — I was absent, but the following activities were assigned by the substitute:

Tuesday — I collected your essays.  We did warm-up #10.  We reviewed the vocabulary words for Unit 7 from Monday, I collected the sentences for words 11-15,  and I introduced words 16-20.  We began talking about “Blues Ain’t No Mockin Bird,” but didn’t get very far.  The test for the story will be on Thursday and the Vocabulary Test will be Friday.

Wednesday – Now we’re back on track, I hope.

  • Proofread this sentence.
  • Parents often argues about what is best for they’re children.

VOCABULARY

  • Collect sentences for words 16-20.
  • Review words 16-20
  • Go over activities for Unit 7

  • Ms. Wood talked about having goals and striving for them.

WARM-UP #9

  • COLLECTION DAY, #2-9
  • A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, “that’s nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no types of equipment or air pockets!” The magician told the kid if he could do that, he’d give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?

VOCABULARY-UNIT 7

  • We went over yesterdays activities for words 6-10.

COMPOSITION

  • Students spent about 15-20 minutes on evaluating and revising their essays.

LITERATURE

  • Study Guide was issued for “Blues Ain’t No Mocking Bird” by Toni Cade Bambara, which is our next short story.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008:

HS 101-we discussed being proactive.

There was no warm-up.

Vocabulary-Unit 7, we went over words 6-10 and were assigned the following problems for homework: CS (4, 9, 10, 13, 17), SA (7, 9, 12, 13, 18), CRW (4, 6, 8, 12, 20), and VC (5).

Composition-I checked for rough drafts and students used class-time to write, evaluate, and revise their essays.
